“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12
Welcome to Kidmission Children’s ministry! We believe that kids can do great things even when they are young! Our goal is to create a positive experience for your child while developing a desire to know God personally, igniting a passion for Christ, learning to listen to his Spirit, and cultivating a concern for people’s needs in our communities and the world. We hope these experiences will provide them with perspective on the world and their place in it. We hope it will lay the foundation for serving others as they grow up. Ultimately, we hope these experiences will draw them closer to God.
We affirm the home as the center of Biblical guidance. Parents are the most important people in a child’s life, and learning about God starts in the home. Teaching children about God is a seven-day-a-week effort; not something that is done just an hour or two on Sunday morning. We pledge to do our best to support you in your child’s spiritual education, and stand ready to help you at any time.
Here are some ideas to create the best experience for your child:
You can create a free account online at www.kidcheck.com. Select “Sign-up” and then “I’m a Parent, Guardian.” Follow the link “set up your free login account.” Keeping your kids safe is our top priority!
Please help your child to be on time and attend as often as possible. Consistency and continuity are extremely important for your child during these years. To provide the best learning experience, we teach in units of study that build from week to week, and it’s best for the child to be able to experience each week’s lesson, if possible.
We promise to join you in praying for you and your child. We believe that prayer is an effective and powerful force to help protect your child and help him develop to his highest spiritual potential. We would much appreciate your prayers for our children’s ministry team as well.
Please encourage your child to bring a Bible and an offering each week. Our offering goes toward two sponsored children from Compassion International. Not only are we praying for strong relationships with our kids from Eastwind, but a chance for our sponsored children to hear about Christ.
We engage in a number of missions and ministry activities during the year. Last year our kids brought warm clothes and canned food items for our immigrant families in Wilder. We made treats for the animals at the Humane Society. We also helped raise money for Free Wheelchair Mission, collected board books for sick children in the hospital, visited and sang to the residents at the Villas and handed water and granola bars to the homeless.
Eastwind’s Children’s Ministry offers many opportunities to connect to families through volunteering. Each of our positions is a commitment to being part of a team during the same service time each week (since we offer two services every Sunday, it gives everyone the opportunity to serve as part of the body without missing the adult worship, sermon and fellowship times).
We believe that the people who find the greatest fulfillment in their walk with Christ are those who find a place where they can use their talents for God. As a church we are committed to helping people find their niche – the spot where God can use their abilities and availabilities for his glory.
